Stay 19
How to lock XP for a 19 twink
Goal: finish key quests and gear without walking into level 20 and out of the 10–19 WSG bracket.
Forever-specific uncertainty
Retail and Cataclysm+ have “Experience Eliminator” NPCs (Behsten / Slahtz) that toggle XP for gold.
Classic Era did not. We have not confirmed that Forever ships the same toggle.
Until an official Forever tooltip or patch note says otherwise, assume you lock by managing turn-ins, not by an NPC switch.
What we do know for Forever
- Required XP 19→20 was reported as 21,300 after the Wowhead retraction (22 Sep 2026)—same band size as Classic single-source. See quest XP tables.
- Dungeon quest XP was buffed and kill XP cut in Forever beta commentary; the dangerous part is still the turn-in.
- Beta sources (ForeverChanges vs client quest cache) sometimes disagree on quest XP—treat the higher number as the danger.
Practical lock checklist
- Track your 19 bar. If a single turn-in is listed ≥ ~7,000 XP, you need more than a third of the bar empty or you ding.
- Finish high-XP Forever quests (Ruins of Lordaeron / Hall of Thanes rows on the lock page) while climbing, not after you are parked at 19 with a full bar.
- Bank Warsong Gulch Marks of Honor—do not turn them in for XP while locking. Details: Marks trap guide.
- After launch, re-check Wowhead Forever tooltips and patch notes for any official XP-off control.
Classic citations (dated, not Forever proof)
Classic WSG mark turn-ins historically granted XP in the 10–19 band (community guides cite ~725 XP per mark turn-in package — Classic citation only). Forever amounts are unverified. Cata+/retail Behsten guides do not automatically apply.
